Bridget Palmer from Department of Conservation and Kiwi Trust came to school to teach us about the Kiwi , why they are endangered and the work she does to help protect kiwi in the bush around Whakatane. We are very lucky that we have these very special kiwi living in bush so close to us. Bridget brought her Kiwi encounter van to school with some cool videos, books and models to help us learn more about the Kiwi. Thank you so much for coming to share with us Bridget. We learnt so much about our native Kiwi.
Next term we will be going on a Kiwi-tracker bush walk with Bridget to see what she and her team do to help the Kiwi survive in the bush around Whakatane and maybe we might get to hear or see a kiwi. That would be so exciting!!
